On the Table– October 10 through 16

Many of you might be aware that there is an upcoming election– it’s been getting a bit of play in some media outlets…

Elections regularly produce anxiety, but this one even more than usual. The upcoming election is creating some real angst, and therapists report a sharp spike in business as people try to deal with their fears. Indeed, the outcome of the election looks like the End of Days to many, and from all points of the political spectrum. Folks from many perspectives are suggesting that if their candidate isn’t elected, it will mean the end of our nation, and maybe even the church. It’s enough to make apocalyptic fiction seem like a nice respite from reality.

So what should we think about all of these dire doomsday predictions? In the midst of this storm, we will be spending the next two Sundays looking at some of the apocalyptic literature contained in the Bible, including the disturbing revelation of God’s fulfillment of justice in the world as well as the hope (no seriously, there is hope!) found therein.

We hope you will bring your thoughts, your concerns, and even your angst when we meet at Jammin’ Java this Sunday morning at 10:15.
