Well, this Sunday is the fourth Sunday of the month, so we won’t be gathering for a worship service at Jammin’ Java. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing going on!
First, join us on Friday evening for our Lenten series of gatherings in Falls Church to discuss practices for spiritual formation – if you want to join in, contact us!
Second, we’ll gather for our quarterly-ish congregational meeting at the Rodman House at Church of the Holy Comforter in Vienna, VA at 1pm on Sunday. (Rodman House is the residential house in front of the church – if you’re heading north on Beulah Road, the driveway is actually before you get to the church sign.) Child care will be provided. Anybody and everybody who cares about CT is welcome to participate in these meetings, so come on out!
And third, a bunch of us are planning to return to Holy Comforter for:
Contemplative Worship: Sung Compline
This Sunday, March 25, 5:00 p.m. in St. Mary’s Chapel
Compline is the final service in the cycle of the Daily Office, and has been observed in Christian communities for centuries. The sung form of the liturgy includes no spoken text whatsoever: the service is led by a small group of singers, and all of the prayers and readings are sung. The service emphasizes spiritual peace, and features lush greenery, incense, candles, icons, and time spent in silent meditation.
So please join us for that, too, if you feel so led.
Oh, and one more thing: Our monthly Karaoke Pizza Parties at the Lamb Center (the daytime drop-in center for homeless folks in Fairfax) will start up again on the evening of Friday, March 30th, from 6:30 – 8pm. These are a blast, so plan on joining us there if you can!
And that’s it for this week, as far as I know. One week from Sunday, we’ll gather again at Jammin’ Java for an All Ages service for Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week. Lenten blessings, folks.
