On the Table– October 24 through 30

Hello, Church!  We hope you are enjoying this lovely fall weather, the bright sunlight, the leaves leaving the trees, and the rhythms of the school year.  Just remember to put pumpkin spices only in your pumpkin pie and all will be well (I’m looking at you, Trader Joes!).

This Sunday we are not meeting at Jammin’ Java, but that doesn’t mean we can’t hang out a bit!  In particular, I wanted to invite you to the Family Festival at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian.  The focus is on the celebration of Dia de los Muertos (‘Day of the Dead’), a celebration of life, memory, and ancestors.
A highlight of this weekend is a talk by iconic Mexican American artist and author Caren Lomas Garza (whose art we have explored at church) at 2pm.  Details are here, and I was thinking that anyone interested could meet up at 1:30.  Or if you’d like to get some lunch beforehand, please contact me and we’ll work out the details.  PLEASE NOTE that the Marine Corps Marathon is taking place on Sunday, which will affect roads and parking even into the afternoon– Metro might be our best bet.
Hope to see some of you on Sunday!
